That is exactly what I was thinking. Doing squarepusher types of sequencing ( pitch changing , rapid filtering ect.. ) might lead you to taxing the sequencer quite a bit . I personally have pushed my 1000 to the point of hiccuping ( with FAR less tweaking than I do on my 2000xl without a problem) but again I do alot of tweaking and intricate pitch and filter changes. I think most of the people on this forum are using their MPC's for hip hop ( by listening to the myspace pages ) which can be leniant on the sequencer of choice whereas Drum and Bass can tax a sequencer pretty hard. Again I have an MPC 1000, 2000xl , 3000 , and 60 .. Here is how I would break it down.... I would trust the 2000xl and 3000 with intense drum and bass sequences, I would not trust the 1000 or 60 .. I do not have an MPC 2500 but if the 1000 is any indication of how robust the sequencer is I would stick to the old solid machines.... Note count aside...
