Pad Surrounding (black outline finish) - Matt or Glossy?

The black outlay set around the pads, are they matt or glossy on your units of the 2500?

Mine is glossy, and certain marks are really showing.

look at this pic at zzounds , that sure isn't the same paint-job than my mpc2500 , zoom in on the sliders , the whole mpc is glossy.
The only thing glossy on my mpc is around the pads and the play/record buttons.

yep, that's definitely another finish. Obviously an Akai demonstration model.

Mine is glossy only around the pads and transports as well. What do you mean by "certain marks are really showing", Groove?

Probably finger prints, potato chip oil, cookie crumbs.

It's not all that bad. The finger hole on the jog wheel is good for holding a spare skittle, and the q-link knobs are a good place to stack my funyuns. My half eaten ring pops go on the record gain knob. And beef jerky sits well on the pads; the rubbery pad prevents my jerky from sliding off and falling to the floor. HAHA

But really though, I do it sometimes, you just gotta be careful. Eat chips with your thumb and index finger, and bang the pads with your middle. It's probably the most important "work around" I can think of. I can't make beats on an empty stomach!

Word. Sometimes, instead of putting Funyuns on my Q-Links I postion them so they can hold an ice-cream cone for me. Try it out!

Sorry for starting such a topic (which may seem like a waist of time), but i just wanted to see if its all the same.

I have found a solution for those greasy finger prints. I picked up a can of Optical cleaning spray. Its made the mpc like new again. Very good stuff. I dabbed some on a side panel first, and then over the whole thing including the pads. It leaves a nice dry feel to the pads.

That stuff may dry out your rubber pads over a long period of time.

I use a microfiber cloth and compressed air. It works pretty well.

I went to a fabric store and the lady happen to have a square foot of the same microfiber that comes with the PSP, so my girl bought it for me. I cut it up in 4 big squares, one, for my music machines, every now and again I'll also bring my machines to work with me, take them apart and air compress them.
