Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By pezzner Tue Aug 15, 2006 7:17 pm
Hello. This is my first post. I've read through the manual and searched this site but havent found much information about this...

Is it possible to change/save the default settings on the MPC? For instance, when I turn on my MPC 2000XL I would like the midi clock to be automatically set to external, the metronome to be turned off, the swing to be set to 55%... There are other defaults I'd like to change but hopefully you get the idea.

Is this possible?

"Hello. This is my first post."
Welcome.

"Is it possible to change/save the default settings on the MPC?"
No.

"Is this possible?"
No.

What IS possible is that you make up your OWN PGM with all these settings that you wish. Place that PGM in the root folder of your floppy/cf/scsi whatever you have, then set the autoload for that device/disk.

Now your PGM will automatically be loaded when you power on and all your settings will be there in your autoloaded PGM.

Autoload is in your manual and autoload CANNOT read through folders, so if you want something autoloaded DON'T put it in a folder.

2kxl doesn't autoload PGM, you'll have to make an APS and autoload that for your pgms in the root directory. pg153, 2kxl manual.

On the 2kxl load/save screen there is a SETUP button, go into that for autoload.

On the 2k classic, there is NO SETUP button in the load/save screen (unless it was brought in under a newer OS, my 2k manual is v1.0)

Close, but APS will just store program and sounds (which you may want to do as well). Specifically what you mentioned is relevent to other settings related to the sequencer. You need to save those in a .ALL file. That will save sequences, songs and other settings. So to save everything that is going on, save a .ALL and a .APS.

Yep.

The 2kxl manual states EXACTLY what is saved in the ALL and APS files, it's the same stuff for both machines.

Use APS to autoload PGM's.
