how do you use the mpc1000 like a midi keyboard?

I heard you can do this? Though I don't know how? The manual doesn't seem to address this, and if it does.. i can't understand cus I looked through that section already.

I've never seen that section in the manual But I think you're talking about the 16 levels function.....just change the parameter to 16 tunings.

...or something like chromatic assign.

or make a pgm and edit the note numbers to make your own chromatic assign.. there's a few ways to do it.

I think the 64 mpc pads ARE your keyboard, corresponding to the keys of a regular keyboard.

In Programm press F4 and select your midinotes (like from notenumber 36 up to 99). If they correspond with your keyboard or octapad notenumbers you can play your samples on your (midi)keyboard in the same order that they're programmed on your MPC.

basically I think he's talking about triggering software from the MPC ,yes you can. just make sure you have your midi cables hooked up right to trigger.

yeah..
and switch the tracktype from drum to midi and edit the pads so they trigger in a chromatic fashion.
