had the disaster ive been fearing every time ive tried one of the beta os 3 versions. Its not a problem witht the os itself but i cant work out what to do....

As the mpc was erasing flash memory one of my house lights blew and cut out power. When i powered back up it came up with the message:

"Mpc bootblock ver: 1.03
Boot on emergancy mode
A Compact flash card was detected
Detected Fat 16 volume
Os File searching
A correct Os file wasnt found
System halt"

I have 3.05 and 2.01 on the card in a folder.
Is there anything i can do?

Put the card in a computer (maybe a USB card reader).

Put the OS file you want loaded on the card (no folders).

So next time you start up the machine can find the OS file on the card itself (no folder).

I'm not saying that's DEFINITE but that's what I would think if I saw that happening with me. I would try that though. Hopefully that's the case and you can be straight after that.

From your description though, Im pretty sure that's what it is. But do that anyway and see what going on.

No i realise that, but it was what i was thinking from previous things ive read about the ways people have been bouncing between os versions and i just wanted to see what people suggested before i went and got one.

Just ran to get the cheapest reader i could find and am VERY pleased to say it worked fine. So cheers for the help.

Worth renaming this thread in case anyone else has a power cut whilst loading?
