When I go to record a a sequence, let's say that it is 4 bars long, well when I lay down a melody and press stop, when I press play again, it seems to start off fast then catch the right tempo when it loops! Has this happened to anyone else. Also another way to see that the timing is off a little bit is to record a melody and the press (stop) (play start) continously in that order, and you will be able to see that the MPC dosen't start recording events right at 1.00.00, but a few milliseconds later...

Peace

I can't imagine what you're talking about.

Which OS are you on?

The latest!

Have you tried quantizing(T.C)? :?:

Try switching quantize off.

When this happens, are you sync'd to an external sequencer?

I experience this if I am using external MIDI. The MPC actually does record right at 1.00.00 (if the timing is set correctly)..but pressing PLAY START sometimes, misses the first note....but PlAY doesn't.

I know what your talking about sometimes timing appears to be a little off, while at other times it seems dead on. If you have this problem again try laying down your tracks in grid edit mode this sloved the problem for me. Hope this helps. :D :D

In 10 months, I haven't had any timing problems.....

You should not have to use grid edit mode to correctly sequence your tracks. However, if you are not good at programming drums or playing a keyboard..than that is another story.

When I use grid edit mode I use it in realtime I don't just place the notes...........there have been times when I realtime record a track from the main screen and the loop sounds a little off. I'll rerecord the same thing in grid edit mode(in realtime) and it sounds perfect. Like hperkins said"it seems to start off fast then catch the right tempo when it loops" I have experienced this(not all the time) and by recording in grid edit this is eliminated.

Likewise. I've never had any problems like this either.

That's not normal. You shouldn't have to use grid edit mode.

Is your MPC sync'd to an external MIDI gear?

I'm using a couple of midi devices but nothing is sync'd I just trigger using midi I don't use any other sequencer besides the mpc. I know that this is not normal and it doesn't happen all the time. Aren't there other people having this issue?

Do you have a large number of notes playing on one tick in a sequence when your timing irregularities occur?

Also, your keyboard controller can be a cause of some issues when recording. Keyboards can send large amounts of channel pressure messages which will be recorded in your sequences. Look at your sequence in STEP EDIT for these messages. If you don't need them..delete them.

usually it occurs when I have very few notes at all, let alone the on the same tick. I will look into the midi controller(channel pressure). Thanks for the help, hopefully I will get to the bottom of this issue soon.By the way, a guy I know just yahoo'd me about timing issues with the 2500.He said he returned his old mpc because of the timing thing and is having no problems with the new mpc.

Like I said it doesn't happen all the time and when it does the grid edit appears to be the sloution.

I don't think this has to do with your issue, but there have been major problems with the sequencer when playing a lot of events at the same time in the very first OS. They fixed it in the first update however. Maybe that guy only got his second unit with a newer OS
