MPC2000 + Korg Triton = Midi + Sample Help

Hi,
I recognize that this seems like somewhat of a common problem, however, I searched the forums and I still can't seem to get to the bottom of this.

My goal = to connect my MPC2000og and my Korg Triton Classic and be able to play my Triton keys and have it only play the synth sounds (not trigger the sampled sounds on my MPC) and have it register in my MPC when recording patterns.

Please note I am not a noob, just sort of a midi and triton noob.

I have them connected in to out via midi cables. I have tried switching the Triton to external midi control and switching the MPC2000 midi out to midi clock.

What am I doing wrong? Does this make sense.

I did a search and came up with plenty of topics covering exactly what you asked for...read the directions on HOW to use the function....

Perhaps if you read my post, you would have seen that I did indeed search the forums. I followed the instructions and I am still having the problem - that's why I am asking for help.

This question of yours has been answered PLENTY of times...exact same machines, exact same setup...

Change the track your recording on to MIDI instead of drum......

Realworld - I know, I followed the instructions, I can't seem to get it to work - that's why I am posting, as I have mentioned twice.
A-Sharp - I tried that too, I dunno. When I get home from work I will start from scratch and try again, I was dicking around with this for like 2 hours last night and couldn't get it to work. It seemed like if I could get the MPC to record the midi, it would also trigger the samples. If I got the Triton to not trigger the samples, it wouldn't record the midi. Thanks though.

I am no noob. A midi noob, but not a noob to the MPC, the game, or selling beats.

Have you ever sold a beat? Have your beats ever made it to release on albums that have international distro?

I am so sorry for looking for help on this board, what was I thinking...

To answer your questions...I sure have Not the international part, I can care less though. I live in the U.S.A!!!!

Call me a noob all you want. Sell a beat to someone who has an album that makes it farther then consignment at your local record store and I will pay attention.

Okay, so I have the basic part working. Now my problem is when playing a synth note on the Triton's keyboard - it's triggers the sample assigned to the corresponding pad on the MPC. How can I fix that?

On the track you are recording on make sure to turn drums to midi......then program off
then midi chanel to 1a or 1b depending on which midi port you have the trion connected to. in sequence mode on the triton when you pick an instrument, that number becomes the midi channel on the mp. Let's say piano on track 1 of
the triton, that would be midi 1a or 1b on the mpc. guitar on track 2 would be 2a or to 2b....again this depends on the port (a or b) you are connected to.
