Copying CDROM's into 4k HD

I want to copy a bunch of Akai S1000 CDROM's into my 4k HD. Im running AkSys 2.6 and it doesn't allow you to copy from CD Drive straight into the 4k HD. As well you can't seem to copy from 1 folder on the HD to another. Does this mean you have to load the things you want to copy into the memory first? I hope this is not the case seeing that I have over 50 or so CDROM's

you should drag the folder off the cd onto the computer and than drag'em through ak-sys to your hard drive

i m not using aksys 2.6!

but what i've understood the mpc 4k reads several file formats, ak.sys just s 5000 format! ... and that's ****, cause this means that you will have to convert other formats first to s 5000 formats and then drag and drop them into ak.sys!

Can't you load the CD into the MPC and access it via AkSys? That way you don't have to convert anything.

i just cop a cdrw yesterday! gonna build it in today! ... and i used aksys just to bring samples from my hd, sample cd's, ... to my mpc (but haven't done it in a while cause my pc is messed up! also i m not using ak.sys 2.6! so maybe I'm not up to date there!

so having no cdrw till now and the pc messed up i haven't really tried that *** but what i've understood:

- the 4k (for example via cdrw) reads different file formats! so you can load your samples straight in the 4k! once in the 4k you can access them via aksys! (PS sample formats: there has been a thread in the last weeks in which this was discussed! have a look with the search funtion! ... and i think there are news regarding this with the new os! (download the now os 1.51, a manual (abbendum) should be in there!)

- ak.sys only reads s 5000 format! (don"t know wheter there have been changes with 2.6)
if there haven't been changes with 2.6 this means: if you have other file formats you need to convert them first into s 5000 on your pc/mac (using software such as translator or cdXtract)! after this you can drag n drop them via ak.sys into the 4k!

ak sys can transfer any files from computer to mpc, right now i have pro tools files setting on my mpc hard drive, now i can't load them up but i can store them on the mpc and when i'm ready to use them i dragged from the mpc back into the computer. so your only concern, is it a format the mpc reads
