who has been able to get Digital Out working. How?

I'm on my second brand new 2500 unit. Both of them don't seem to output via Digital Out.

The probability of two brand new units being defective is super slim. This has to be user error, I think. Looked in the manual, no clue (unless I missed it).

Anyone? Does it just always output or maybe my device can't recieve the signal? I'm using a Pioneer DJM-800 to accept the digital out from the MPC. The DJM accepts the digital out of the Numark HDX turntable I have fine, so I know it isn't the DJM. That works fine....

nevermind. Got it sorted. Apparently the DJM-800 does not like the digital input from the MPC's output. Can't figure out why, but oh well. I've routed the digital out of the MPC into the digital in of the Motu Ultralite and its playing back through Live now.

So, it works, but the DJM doesn't like it for some reason direct from the MPC.

That being said, there is something to be able to play beats on a pad from the MPC along with the output from Live. Very cool.

haha, wow, i just joined this forum with the intentions of finding out the solution to EXACTLY the same problem. i have an MPC 2500 and a pioneer DJM 800, i was stumped as to what to do. Cheers for the heads up

do you need / can you get, some kind of sample rate convertor - does a DAC do this?

hmmm actually im quite sure that is correct, im not near my MPC at the moment but i do remember noting that there was a slight difference in the sample rate. Is there a solution? (hopefully non expensive)

just make sure both unts are set to 44.1/16bit ... if one is at 44 & the other is at 48 you'll run into clocking issues.

a DAC is not needed. A DAC takes the digital signal and converts it to analog for monitoring or mixing thru outboard gear or a mixer.

ok, but my pioneer DJM 800 mixer can only be switched between 48 or 96 khz, is there a way i can match it with the mpc (at 44.1 khz) or am i stuck?

not sure on that. you might be better skipping the digital out and going analog. I can do real time sample conversion with my rosetta 200 but not sure on cheaper solutions.

just a hint .make sure you select cauxial and not optical in/out in your sound card options.
