Why is it that the 2000xl cost more than the 1000, and the 2000xl is an older machine????

I don't think it's technically better pound for pound, it's just preffered.

Well, the 60 and 1000 are still worth more than both of them, and are older. Newer doesn't necessarily mean better.

That was Akai's intention. To have an mpc that was portable, small, and affordable. Look how its built.(pads for example) They werent building it like a they're familiar workhorses(2k, xl,ect..) They just kept it simple so it could be affordable.

Actually, the pads are built very well on the 1ooo, it's just a bad glue job but you can get around that very easily.

I think that the mpc2000xl is the best value machine if bought used. I wouldn't dare buy at the price they are going for new....
I have to decide between a new 1000 or a used 2000xl that I would want to upgrade with a card reader. I'm leaning towards the 1000, but i dont think it's as well built as a 2kxl...

I buy all my shit brand new... Its worth it.
The xl is definately better than the 1k.

I got 1k! Can you tell me what's exactly better in 2kxl?? I am thinking of buying another one MPC in future but I haven't decided yet which one!

I personal think it has a warmer sound and the workaround is faster....The 1k was really easy to use but I prefer the way the 2kxl performs!!!!

I was thinking of getting any of the 2000 series or even the older models because of this "warm punchy" sound that its supposed to provide.
But im satisfied with the way my external effects units colour the sound anyway. and i can always buy wanna of the akai rack samplers for dirt cheap, if i really wanted that sound.
The functions, portability and computer compatibilities of the 1k, makes me want one more than these older models anyway.
