pad mutes

so i've tried search and looked in the manual and i am having a bit of a blonde day to be fair but..

i was sure there was a way to mute individual pads or did i imagine it? i'm triggering the mpc from cubase, i know i could use track mutes in cubase but i want to be able to do it from the mpc as i'm there already doing some other stuff, live pads, assign slider etc

Trk:On being the field where you choose wether the track is on or mute

Your sayn two different things.do you mean pads or tracks.If you mean tracks,on the 2k there is a track mute button next to the next sequence.Hit that and all your tracks for that sequence will come up.You will be able to mute them or solo them by just hittin the pad.

i is saying de one ting, pads

muting pads on the mpc (the track mute reference was to cubase, ignore)

I've a classic and this is somewhere else but yeah ...

I think I'm confused because I'm triggering the mpc pads from cubase, therefore not using the mpc sequencer. And like you say otherwise I'd have each drum sound on a different track and mute sounds by using track mute; this is what i was thinking of.

I've spotted one possibility, the mixer window allows you to set volume per pad but it's not instant like hitting a mute button

The reason i'm sequencing from cubase is because i've had hassle syncing cubase and mpc (and ANYTHIG actually) before ... guess i might have to look into it again.

Do you want to display the track mute screen for the mpc2000? If so as said above in the track lets say Track 1 you will see Trk:ON highlight that and hit open window. You can access that screen while the sequencer is playing or when the sequencer is stoped. BUT you cannot access that screen while recording well atleast its never worked for me inless there is some work around I dont know about.

NO! I know about track mute. I'd like to be able to mute by 'pad'. But I don't think you can.

... oh ok maybe a better way to explain it then is mute by 'sound', but as you assign sounds to pads, mute 'by pad' is the same

It's only an issue if you are triggering the mpc like a sound module otherwise you would indeed just use track mute with each sound on a separate track.

Are you asking how you can "mute" the same pad throughout all your sequences?

Yes!

I have some MIDI drum patterns in Cubase that started life in Steinberg Groove Agent. I'm using that MIDI data to drive the MPC.

So I have a "program" in the MPC (classic not XL) with some drum sounds triggered by that MIDI data.

No sequence in the MPC hence mute by track not relevant hear (I assume).

I'm adding some other drum sounds live by hitting the pads, doing a little bit with the slider on one sample and playing with an external voltage controlled filter. I'd like to be able to mute some of the sounds without turning my attention to cubase. Hence I was hoping you could somehow "mute by pad" or "sound/sample".
