SCSI Hard Drives and CD Drives

Just wondering what Scsi Hard drive I should buy for my 2000XL. I found a deal on an Avid 9GB w CD drive. will this work?

"2GB is the maximum per-drive space that this sampler can access. The remaining drive space will be ignored"

does that mean total or per partition?
