Direct instrument recording

I have the MPC 2500 since a few months and I have just discovered that I can plug my bass (Cort Fretless 5 string passive) or my guitar (Strato Fender) directly in the MPC without any pre-amp and get a fairly sound. Of course, you have to play with the Gain to get a correct input level but the sound is good! This machine is fabulous !!!
Did someone already try to record an instrument using a dynamic microphone directly plugged in the beast?

No, but, I did what you did. I plugged my Fender 4 string in and played to a track. I used to do the same thing with my 2000XL but, being able to actually play while hearing the track is a major plus.

Not tried it but cant you just turn the Rec Knob up and the Gain knob up and then turn Monitor Off??

yea.. if you want to plug in a 1/4 microphone... you gotta plug it in on the left side of direct record in... then when you go to record by hittping pad 9.. or sumthin.. then choose record in right or left see what it fits in.. cuz it works you can record like a ;etf and right signal.. by pluging it in the letf side.. just tweek with it
