Maybe your Floppy is too "short" for the sequence AND the samples....you can only store very little things on the floppy....I use a ZIP wihch is much more convinient for me cos' i can store 100 Mb on each, and it's workin' really fine in spite of what some say on other topics......

hmm

get a scsi zip drive...im tellin you man, if you want to make more complex beats with lots of samples you will need an external zip drive or hard drive..floppies are just too damn low on memory capacity

Not to mention sloppies, Um I mean floppies are slow as fukkk. Are you saving ALLPROGRAMSANDSOUNDS? and the sequences? or at least program and sounds and then sequences? And when you save a program and sounds, it asks you if you're saving WITH sounds, and you make sure it's set to YES... I am using the original mpc2000 by the way, not the XL but it should be the same to save I think...

guys... if he is having troubles saving his beats PERIOD then lets not confuse him more with suggesting he get a zip/jaz/hd!!!

lb, it sounds to me that you are saving only the "all sequences & songs". you need to save "all sequences & songs" AND "all programs & sounds". i believe the file extension for the sequences is .all & the file extension for all programs is .aps

are you indeed saving both of those files?
and then when you start up the mpc again are you loading both of those files?
