New to the "MP" world.

First off, I want to say thank you all for being so informative.

I dont have a "MP" yet (for financial reasons), but I will be getting a 1k soon and this forum has helped me in many ways.

I am a hip hop artist/producer/beat maker,(www.myspace.com/clephknotes) and I have been for quite a while now, and computer programs alone dont cut it anymore. From toyin with the MPC 2k in the past, I know its power and what it is capable of, but the 1k better fits my budget. So, I MUST HAVE IT.

Not to mention, I hear that with the new OS, the 1k can compare to the 2k...almost identical. Is this true? If so, this will push my decision even more.

The MPC1000 is more comparable with the 2500 because their] OS's are very similar. There really is no comparison between the 1000 and 2000/XL in terms of features. If someone decides to buy a 2000/XL over a new MPC1000, it's usually for other reasons.

No doubt. I think Im still gonna go with the 1k though. The "portable-friendly" size helps a bit.

When Im bored at work like now, for instance, plug in the headphones and its a wrap!
