Whats up

Alright i have a question, before i ask i have looked through the manual and looked in the beat making on the 2kXL ebook but still am not sure. I just bought midi cables thinking that there would be a way i could take my midi controller , hook it up to the mpc, load a sound on a pad and then play it on different tones on the keyboard by putting it on sixteen levels. I tried it but it doesnt seem to work for me.

I guess basically what im asking is can i use the mpc as a sound module and play what i want on the keys and record it in on my tracks.

Let me know

Peace

you can play the sounds you got loaded in your MP in your keyboard midi controller, but still, the keyboard is just a controller so if you wanna record your tracks you still gon do it through your MP

Im asking if i can basically if i can load a sound on the mpc, then play it on different tone levels using the keyboard. Basically can the mpc be the sound module for my midi controller.

You looking to do autochromatic. Look that up in your manual or ebook. Pretty much it lays the sample out in chromatic order so you can play it on your keys.

16Levels will not lay the sounds out all over your keyboard.

yeh. the 16 levels uses only one sound with different tones all through the pads. you need to use the autochromatic assignment. that actually creates different sounds from the original. got to (shift)program-Auto (F5). when u got that new program you can play all those sounds with the midi controller

^exactly but that aint necessarily gotta b a problem aint that right. idont think ima use 256 different sounds from the mp on a sequence

lol sall good. im just saying too theres workarounds to that you feel me. like for the autochromatic thing you aint necessarily need to create a new program, u can assign the sounds you gon use to other pads on another program. so im sayin idont think a lotta producers need all of them 256 sounds comin from the mpc for a sequence. plus you got midi too. possibilities r endless. its all good tho we both know what we sayin. im talkin for other ppl reading this too.

not tryna go off topic but is it true that with the 3000 u can only use 1 program? i aint neva used one but idunno why i was thinkin like i wanna get it. but I heard this iwas like daymn. so all these big producers that still use it they just use it for his sound? its still on my list i just feel its another nice piece of gear and its still a classic

but is it true that with the 3000 u can only use 1 program?
Rohan broke that down in detail in another thread. Do a search for it.

use the autochromatic assignment. that actually creates different sounds from the original.
It's the same sample though. It doesn't make physical copies.

BUT the downfall is u only get 4 programs to use.
You can switch programs (24 max in 2kxl) via program changes inserted in step edit, but yes, you only have 4 programs active at a time.
