i have a sample i would like to get most of the music removed from, so im only stuck with the vocals.
is there any tips / tricks that you can tell me on the mpc4000 ? tried different filters, but would be nice to get some "try this and that and so a bit of this + lalala ;)" thanx

im unfamaliar w/ the 4k but i know on the 2kxl, filters only help so much as far as getting music out unless were talkin about a bass sample or something with a low frequency, otherwise they can do the trick but only on minor sounds and the trick i use most is just layering other sounds on top of that to cover up what i cant filter.

my best advice, there are a few posts floating around that describe certain frequencies of sound and where certain instruments fit in these frequencies.

if you have a software program, first get a decent idea of where the vocals frequency sits in the mix, then filter everything around that mark, and just use your ear.

the vocals would be the easier of the two to get rid of. Ditching the beat and melody are impossible.
