I'm getting pretty sick of this drama man.

It's just GOT to be possible, I mean they're putting space stations in orbit right now, so it's just GOT to be possible

to get one of those SCSI to USB cables, and make a Windows XP interface, where you can chop shit up on your PC, assign it to pads in something like MPCeditor, and load the program directly through SCSI on your MPC...
and also to save everything directly to your PC.
No more hassles with prehistoric storage devices.....

Image

It's just GOT to be possible....if you can write to zip, and read that with XP and vice versa, then it just GOTS to be possible to make a direct interface dammit.....

Is anybody interested at ALL in this?

I just want to take the 3000 and 60 to the new milennium man....
I'm sure Dr Dre and Timbaland and so on would be very interested in this, and they have the money... I mean, what would the total developement costs be???

you'd just have to write a good I/O module for MPCeditor and it would be all good....

this is eating me up , goddamn drama...Just lost another beat, another zipdrive and 5 disks.....

I just called a few of my computer wizzkids and they say it has to be possible and are willing to help out....
Please, everybody, I need as much info on the filesystem and SCSI interface as you can give me.

-It's a Fujitsu SCSI protocol right?
-What about the filesystem? some kind of FAT I guess because you can adress only 680 MB...right?

I need way more info...ROHAN!!!!! where you at man!!!!

whats wrong with using a zip or floppy and chopping up samples on the MPC?

I mean.....that is what you purchased a mpc for right? It is more than a sequencer/ sampler....

what I most enjoy about mine is the fun of chopping, looping, and all the melodies you stumble upon by accident when messing around with the 650.100.39 parameters that I scale up and down when chopping samples..

I'll knock on wood while saying this...but I've only had a zip disk/drive fail once or twice and it wasn't that bad. Floppys and zips are pretty reliable and you can save everything in MPC editor if your of the worrywort type so I dont' see any need for a pc/mpc interface. You can just use you PC/MAC with the sequencer or your choice and use one of those usb/firewire drum trigger pads or you mpc midi'd to your computer but none of that sounds as fun as doing it all in the mp....

but I'm sure you already know all this....

Man, if that were even remotely possible.... Or even be able to chop in Recycle & export like you used to be able to do on an S1000. Actually, Recycle doesn't support MPC. Anyway, just some easier way to get stuff into the 3000 from the Mac!

Yeah, I've done this with a USB Zip &. I've had other issues, but I think its to do with naming of files or something. Its not vital for me, but it would eliminate the drive.

Actually, most of my problems have been with MPCPGMMAKER on the Mac (where I do most editing). I got MPCEditor for PC with USB Zip & have had much less problems. Have not really focused on solving the problem with Mac.

Actually, as I write this, I realized ahhhh its not that important. Forget my previous post! Its fine the way it is. :D

that's just silly
that's like saying : why would you need a pen, you can do the same sh|t with a chisel and claytablet....

If I can chop faster on the PC, then I will chop on the PC.

I just don't like to rely on risky storage media (you see I lost a LOT of beats because of broken zips).

I bought it for the sequencer and dope convertors....not for chopping, chopping is a chore compared to the intuitive fast chopping in recycle or sth like that....

I like the best of both worlds.
I aint ending up like the dinosaurs...

I don't have a problem with chopping on the mpc but don't trust zip drives too much anymore. I get corrupt files every now and then.. sometimes it acts funny.. and I'm sure this problem will get bigger in the future as scsi zip drives get older, these things don't last !!

Nothing is wrong with chopping samples in the MPC, but I can guarantee I'll cut stuff up 10 times faster than you using protools. Cutting sampels in an MPC is time consuming and innacurate. I don't care how "good" at it you are,

Not only that but you can do a lot more to a sample inside a computer before you put it back into the mpc. DAWs have much better time compression plug-ins than anything I've seen on an mpc, as well as EQs, compressors, effects. Why limit yourself to just using an mpc? Obviously if this guy didn't think it was a good idea to implement something like this then he wouldn't suggest it. What works for you doesn't work for everyone.

if computer editing is so important to you's guys.

then get a different mpc

I edit samples for my mpc60 all the time in my computer. It's just a matter of figuring out your own process.

I never said there was anything wrong with using a pc to chop. It's simple enough and quick enough for me to do on a mpc or sp so thats the way i do it. I doubt you'll find the interface that your looking for....

unless you create it.

if you cant chop with your mpc then your a sucker
using your eyes over your ears isnt more accurate unless youre a rookie

if youre recording your samples first into your computer you might as well use your computer to make a beat

watch your a/d d/a

Your eyes are much more accurate than your ears. You can closely examine a static point in the wav file with your eyes. You can't do that with your ears. Also it's not like you only use your eyes when chopping in the computer. I'll chop anything 10 times faster in protools than you on an MPC. The way I look at it you're a sucker, continue to waste your time chopping samples with a wheel.

if youre recording your samples first into your computer you might as well use your computer to make a beat

So you only use your mpc because of the character of the sound? They don't really add that much to it.

watch your a/d d/a

ok buddy, keep using the inferior A/D converters on the MPC. Not that it really matters.. A/D converters are only there for lame pricks to act like they notice a difference.
