For fact, the 4k has one feature (and a sh*t load more) that sets it apart from the others. It's call "KEYGROUP", which allows the sampler to act as a sound module. You're then able to interface the 4k with your favorite sequencer and not to mention the akai sys that helps organize your files via a computer as well. These are some of the things that sold me on the 4k in the first place.

I know this is a lil' late, but...
I have an XL, but if I could have bought a 4k for under $1500, I would have.
Once I master the XL, and make a lil' bank, I'm going for the 4k.
