The first track I made with all samples from break and battle records

Its basically nothing of my own except the beat and the way i cut them up, but all of the samples were taken from battle records of collected samples.

I really wouldn't try to sell anything like this, but was wondering if break and battle records are made royalty free because of all the uses they are intended for?

noooo way man. you still got to pay , where you think they sampled them from the Og they just did they you did and a lot of us do it use now ask or pay consequences later.

nice try , sampling is just an other word for stealing, but it's all good cause do it

Well I guess why he asked this was, if they sell such records officially, doesn't the label have to pay for the samples they put together on that record already? And if so, would someone buying that record have to pay a second time for using them?

ya thats what i was asking, thats why i said i wouldnt attempt to sell something so sampled from a bunch of other people

thats why i posted that site where you can press your own vinyl a long time ago because I intend to press my own samples to use and im on that right now, just wondering about how they can press a record with all those samples and then have people use them for break battle shows and probably use them on records and keep pulling royalties over and over from them

Well, I wouldn't rely on them being royalty free. What about those samplers, Dusty Fingers, UBB and so on. I don't think the tracks on those can be used freely, just because someone assembled them on one record - even if he paid for it already.

Generally, if you're not gonna make money out of it (a lot of money), nobody will care, just use what you want. Press your own battle records, whatever.

correct!!!! it's still work from the Og ARTIST ,so how ever it's used it still needs to be paid for , but these battle records are used just for these dj's,they make there record and in stead of pressing one they press bulk and sell them, if you notice most these records are no name labels

but are you talkin like dirt style, and records like that? or are you talking records as mention by stilo?

Anything that is royalty free will tell you that in some sort of documentation. And it will usually be long, wordy, and explain exactly what it can and cannot be used for. But none of that matters if you aren't making a decent sum of money. It's very hard to sue someone unless they are actually making money off you.

i have this dj shadow break record (all sjitty drumloops though corny and house stuff as well :? :? ) and it says on the cover: "for djs and producers"

???

To comment on the topicstarter, if you use those (drum)breaks in the same way youd use original breaks (chopping, layering so theyll become unrecognizable) i dont see any harm in using them. In fact they are great! :D kind of expensive though but theyre selected already.. Kind of ready made sampling vinyl :P I care less if the hardcore beatmaker thinks its cheating

And Ive read somewhere there is a difference in sampling and scratching so maybe if you scratch your sound syou dont have to pay?? .. I have no idea really
