It is not OS trouble.

More like scrambled workspace/parameter/NV-RAM as a result of booting to the new OS from a VERY old version.

Or some other co-incidental failure of a component within your MPC3000.

1: FROM THE DOCUMENT that comes with the 3.16 floppy boot.

"The MPC3000 may have a ROM version installed in ROM that is older than version 3.11."

Solution if you want to run the newer version of OS ... The set of ROM chips will need updating.

2: MPC3000 machines fitted with older versions of operating systems ( previous to 3.11 ) are known to have trouble booting into newer operating system versions.

3.00, 3.03, 3.08, and in some cases, 3.10 are known to have troubles when booting to version 3.11, 3.12, 3.14B, 3.14 and 3.16.

A problem related to the buggy boot loading and system init code present in older OS versions.

In an attempt to fix the "noise" you are experiencing.

1: Re-init all user parameters.

2: If this has no affect then the machine will need to be opened up with the power off and disconnected to perform a short-circuit reset of the workspace/parameter/NV-RAM battery.

Rohan.

BTW: How much RAM is installed in your machine ?

Thanks!!!

I open my mpc,The memory is unlock!,I lock it again,Now it has not the noise!
But pad is still no action,I have 32MB(two 16Mb chips) on board, I didn't remove EXM3002,So MPC show 32,260k.Maybe it is a mistake?

As your MPC3000 has 32 megabyte of RAM present then you must remove the EXM3002 board.

REMOVE THE EXM3002 board !!! :-)

Presence of EXM boards is not required when the RAM is upgraded to 32 megabyte via SIMM slots.

1: Remove EXM3002 memory board via the single screw that attaches it.
Then unplug it.

2: Presence of the EXM3002/EXM3008 board when the is RAM maxed out via SIMMS to 32 megabyte causes the power supply to be strained. In earlier OS versions it also causes memory allocation problems.

I've removed EXM3002 board, but sometimes the pad&play still died,I init all user parameters then restart,MPC works.

2: If this has no affect then the machine will need to be opened up with the power off and disconnected to perform a short-circuit reset of the workspace/parameter/NV-RAM battery.

How does i do it? remove battey a moment?[/b]

Nope ... leave the battery right where it is.

NVRAM battery might be getting old and not holding charge ... perhaps corrupting parameters.

A temporary short circuit of both battery sides with a piece of wire while machine is turned off/powered off ( 1-2 seconds ) can have the effect of clearing NVRAM more than can be achieved with the re-init of parameters.

Maybe check all ribbon cables for secure mounting in their sockets too.
