Consumer or Professional? Does it do anything?

In Global, Config tab

There is a option for choosing Consumer or professional, do they change anything?

very good question but dont expect an answer. I have asked more simpler questions and havent gotten an answer so I didnt even dare with that one.

My guess is that it was used when they put them out for sale they would down load all the info from the hard drive to the other empty harddrive. Professional = master and consumer = slave

but im not sure

yo dawgs, pro/consumer changes a status bit or somthin' in the digital out. I think pro is AES/EBU and consumer is SPDIF.

from the s/pdif section in my m-audio instruction booklet

professional is an AES/EBU type data stream but is elecrically S/PDIF...it's a workaround recognized by some AES/EBU devices...



basically they both have to do with S/PDIF i have mine set to professional on both the delta and the mpc

Please read the folliwing link for more of an explanation. I have the 4000 digital board (spdif coax) and an aes/ebu input in my soundcard therefore I needed to convert spdif coaxial to aes/ebu.

The link above explains the pro and consumer spec amongst many other things to do with these formats. I do all coversion of digital formats with the following piece of kit.

You can't beat a bit for bit copy especially when applying effect in realtime from the 4k and recording them into the pc amongst many other things.
