sorry for the double post, but i want to get my mpc equiped with an hdd asap.
now i'm browsing through ebay looking for some drives, but i don't know which bus-interface the hdm 10 needs. is it ide or dma/ata or seriell ata?

i bought a hitachi travelstar 40gb. it's noisy while it's running (sometimes it runs 20 minutes, even if i don't use it, sometimes it stops after 30 seconds) and i have wrong file errors all the time. i'm pretty **** up and would like to throw my mpc at the wall. hopefully i can give it back and buy another one.
is there someone out there who uses a 40gb hdd which works fine and is quiet as well? please answer me!

I paid $150 for my ram, but my friend recently bought his MPC 1000 and I assured him that he doesn't have to waste that much money. I can't find a thread that talks about using computer ram. Can anyone help???

no kidding smart guy. I didn't want to open up a new thread for a pretty basic question. I tried to do a search on this website, but had no luck. I figured that since you guys know about hard drives you know about RAM. Besides, read the forum rules at the bottom.

Uh yeah, maybe try the 18 page thread near the top of the page entitled "MPC1000 RAM and CF card Recommendations"...'smart guy'. Really, I don't know whether to laugh or weep.

So say i get a Toshiba drive, what about formating it? will the MPC do all that... if so how? or will you have to install the drive in the MPC first then format it via PC or MAC using a disc utility type thing?

you will install the drive inside the mpc and format it the same way you format the CF card inside the mpc. the same goes for whatever hard drive you purchase.

hehehe yeah, for a minute.... i've been in the trenches making things happen. been working with rockwilder for a while getting things set up with him. he got some serious things coming down the pike. but i've been around, peeping up every now and again.
