All what features?? The JJ OS doesn't really add anything the 2500 doesn't have. It moves some features around...changes some of the menus..but there really isn't no real features that will improve making music. The 2500 doesn't really need a major upgrade like the 1000 because it came with everything previous MPCs had before it (minus the 4000) and even more. There are very few issues that need to be addressed though.
You say that there was very little testing..but reading through the bug reports/threads of other users..it paints a different picture...thus the OS is not finalized. There are far more bugs than I can recall from an Akai released OS..which is normal because it is a beta.
I don't believe you or other 1000 users would have been satisfied with just the OS 2.1 though. Anyone can see that on the first page of the 1000 forum (not saying that 2500 users don't do exactly the samething). Users here always demand more...buy something to just complain that it needs more functions...
It realy doesn't matter who does the OS. I just speculated that JJ is actually Numark's way of charging you for an OS. Its a great plan and its working. $35 is alot cheaper than I paid to upgrade my Fantom to version 2.
The 2500 has received significant improvements this year that were not available when it was released last year. The last 2 updates were bug fixes and there should be more on the horizon.
But...initially I was not talking about the 2500. Just my theory about JJ.
