I dont have the new OS for the 1k and there is no way I can get. I know with the new os it will chop samples automatically. But i cant get it. So I have a sample loaded in my mpc that i recorded but how do i chop it up and assign it to different pads, I read the manual but cant figure it out. Can someone explain to me in depth on how to do this without the new os version? Thanx a lot.

And exactly why is there "no way" you could get the new OS?

Please explain.

Another handy thing you could tell us is how far along you can follow the manual instructions before you get to the point where it doesn't make sense, or doesn't seem to work like you expect. Then we'll know where to start explaining things.

Icant get the new os because my pc dont recognize the mpc. And the manual doesnt say how to chop the samples up and take that sample and assign the different chops to different pads. Say I wanna chop it up into 8 pieces n assign those 8 chops to 8 pads it doest tell you. I know how to individaully assign differents samples such as kicks snare etc.. Yall folling me now??????

What do you mean by "new" OS? OS 2.1 or jj´s OS 3.X?

If you ain´t got at least OS 2.1 in your machine there is no automated chopping, you have to do it manually by moving start and end points in the sample and extracting the parts you want then manually assign the extracted samples to the pads of your liking.

And not getting the PC to recognize the MPC is a problem, but should be fairly easy to solve with a little logical troubleshooting. And don´t you know anybody with a card reader on your computer you could borrow and transfer the OS file to a CF card?

To make your PC see the MPC, check chapter 16 of the manual. You must have the USB hooked up, and go into the 'USB' page of the load/save screens.

Chapter 11 covers chopping a sample and assigning it to a program: in particular see the section "Converting Divided samples to SLICED SAMPLES". You'll see that in the convert screen there's the option to "Create new program". I can't describe it any better than they can, so really, check that part of the manual.
