3000 problems, my mpc isnt showin me love latley

so i finally fix my soft key problem.. get my mp back workin for a few weeks, back to normal.. wheee

then last night, im workin on a beat, restart to start somethin else.. my scsi zip drive doesnt get detected and starts with this clicking noise..

then all the buttons, and pads on my mp stop working... only the data wheel and a few of the number buttons work...

so now my mp is totally nonl functional
anyone have any idea what might have caused this ? there is almost no way in hell i can afford another 3k, let alone any sampler at this point..

ima call bruce at forat if nobody has any ideas..

ZIP drives can start clicking for two reasons.

1: The CART/DRIVE combo is failing ... which sadly can happen.

2: The SCSI host (MPC3000) that connected to the ZIP DRIVE is sending continual reset/zero seek commands.

In the case of point 2 above ... a problem with power not being supplied in a continuous fashion to the MPC3000 SCSI board can cause this problems.

As can badly mounted ribbon cables between the various stages of the MPC3000 SCSI board.

Sounds like some of the ribbon cables are not properly seated.

Or ... a mistake in the soft key replacment process has shorted some lines together.

I'd go with the former though ... incorrectly seated ribbon cables.

Maybe open your MPC3000 up and check that all the ribbon cables are correctly seated. IE: Un-plug then Re-plug them firmly to make sure.
