And i tryed to download 2.1 from the akai site and i did. It opened the file in microsoft word and it was some japanese ****. I'll try to help, since most others are intent on dropping smart arse replies. What a great bunch we have online today.

The MPC should appear as a 'removable drive' in Windows file explorer. You can double click to open it, just like you would your C: drive. It will probably be called drive E: or drive G:.

The OS 2.1 file is a '.bin' file (that is to say, it has a file extension .bin). You can get it from the support section of akaipro.com (did you go to the japanese site before?). Opening the .bin file in word is not likely to show anything sensible. You should be able to copy the .bin file across to the removable drive that is the MPC

You should just be able to copy the .bin file across to the removable drive that is the MPC, and then you're all set. Make sure you read the instructions that you can download with the OS .bin file in order to load the new OS. Also, a lot of people have found that when they load OS 2.1, the first thing they get is a blank screen. For some reason, the screen contrast gets set to zero, and you can fix it by holding the shift key and turning the data wheel to adjust the contrast.
