Do you create a "whole song" or just a few bar loop?

I'm just getting started with my MPC, i've done some sequencing on the computer using reason and made some sequences on my Korg ER-1, so I'm curious to see if most of you track a complete beat on the MPC and then just record your tracks into your DAW or do you just create a four or eight bar or more sequence, record it and then loop accordingly in your DAW? Or does it just depend on your preference? I will be working with the MPC2000, and I'm still trying to get my head around the different features.

I just track the loop on the mp and then flesh it out to a song on the computer.

do you just do drums or precussion on the MPC? Or do you add other sounds like synths, strings or the like? I guess cause I haven't heard what it sounds like to play the latter instruments on the MP cause of the need for expression or chords for them that I'm pretty ignorant in my thinking that the MP is only for sequencing precussion and samples of other instrument loops. So I would think you would add those elements after tracking to your DAW.

I do but only because i dont have an external keyboard.

I am new to the MPC but the sound is crystal clear with melody instruments. I need
to get more memory but you can create synphonic type structures just with the pads and work things out there before you commit to your multi-track. I am
on the fringe of this; flutes, mallets, steal-drum crossfades with waterpots
at the bottom if you hit it hard... Cool byond belief but I can hardly
get off the starting block with 16MB...Good Luck

I make my complete song inside my mpc. I don't loop anything in Vegas. I want the song to come completely from outside the computer, ie. my keyboards and/or mpc.

Yes, use your imagination along with knowledge of your machines limitations and capabilities to create what you need or as close to it as you can get.

Lampdog, so do you sequence your keyboard parts on the MPC? Is that all done through midi?
