Im just wondering what a good setup for a home studio will be and what equipment should be bought first. At the moment i have a edirol pcr-1 midi controller and fruity loops thats it. Im looking to get an mpc 1000 but what other things should be on the list?

thanks

Depends on the following:
-Your Budget
-Will your studio be for personal use or other artist to?
-Will you just be producing or recording vocals also?
-What type of music will you be doing?

I mean those are some of the basic things I need to know in order to further assist you. If u have time go to www.tweakheadz.com and have a look at all that cool information for FREE.

again a budget would be nice

reason 3.0 is a great addition and since you obviously already have a pc or mac ...some sort of daw (cubase sonar protools live)

Make sure you have a soundcard that fits your needs. #1 for me. Then monitors.

aight thanks for the advice.

i have cubase sx but its not installed yet. and ill rather use fruity loops than reason 3.0 but i will get that too prolly lol had it before but that was reason 2.0

i wanna get protools tho, its the best i guess? lol

and i def need a better soundcard.

and btw a new computer? i heard its not good to use a computer as a personal computer and for production and stuff. any thoughts?

IMO Protools just like any other program used is a matter of prefference.

Duck is probably meant here to tell you to get low because someone is about to flame you, take cover, duck, get outta dodge, that sorta thing.

"duck" cuz threads that suggest pt le is a decent program quickly become "why I hate PT" threads around here...
