RM1X's go for cheap now, you could rock a 1000 and the RM1x for about the same as a RS, but I haven't seen the used prices.

just joking ? If you can only have one drum machine keep what you got or sell it.Get a mpc or some other machine that can inspire some music from you . No matter what you get ? until you turn it on and put some input into it
you'll be saying the same thing about you new gear. I know people with studios you could wish to own, however they think the latest and best equipment is what makes good music when it's all coming from inside of the button pusher.

i remember a while back on one of the forums that some dude had demo'd a preproduction mpc1000 and found the pad sensitivity truly lacking. i.e. major lag and no sensitivity. did akai fix this? i don't really care how big the pads are, just weather or not they perform like the 2000/xl or 4000.

I understand all that. Ive went through that already before. But to me the mpc1000 isnt really new or the latest and greatest. Its stilll pretty much a mpc with new effects and a little less features.

I dont really care about half the features just the vibe I could get using it. Im not really to concerned about my production skills or the groove it could give me. Cause My beats are the same no matter what gear I use. I mean there always gettin better and shit. But I know it aint the gear its the user. I just know know my production is just about all sample work now and a lot less synthy. I like to dig and I want a way to implement some groove and healthy interaction in my settup.

So Ill be allright and shit. Ill get the mpc1000 and continue to talk shit on the boards

That is so true...check it out I went from MPC2000XL, sold it cause I felt limited, especially in a live set situation. All my boys disssed me for selling the MPC, but I was laughing cause I bought the RS7000 just like you, I loved it, and people told me my music got better. Nothing beats that built in fake Recylce "Loop Remix" functions on phrase samples, it's like having Jazzanova built into your box, but sometimes I felt like I was cheating. But sampling on the RS sucks compared with MPC...I think the sound quality is a little too much on the high end but. So the 1000 came out about 1.5 years after I bought RS, I was sold. Like you I was getting bored on the RS, the synth sounds got old to me and I told myself I would sell the RS to pay for MPC1000. Two months later, I'm still using the damn RS when it comes to getting a project done, The MPC1000 sits here but it's like I'm learning a whole new machine...But it has defiantly given me a creative jolt again, using MPC, Recycle 2.1 and one hit samples has been like hanging out with an old friend. What it boils down to is: Sound, Size & Sequencing MPC Wins and the RS wins on the Loop Remix and unlimited Styles and tracks....They are two totally different beasts.

Are you using the different sample modes for different source material? My Friend thought the same thing at first until he read about the different sample modes. his samples sound great to me.

I shouldn't dis the RS that hard. It's not that bad, just MPC sounds better in my opinion. I've found that Normalizing on the RS is very tricky, it's not really a Normalize we are used to on MPC which makes all samples the same in Volume. All RS does is raise dB by whatever you want, even if you get digital clipping. I've found the best way is to sample as a "kit", edit your loop points, then go to "slice" in the job menu, set your bars and wait 50 seconds. It seems to work very well instead of using "slice & sequence" when you sample. I feel that if I get better using Recycle on my Mac and dumping it into MPC, I might make some more sophisiticated music...dunno. Thanks for asking! Gotta go, Chappell Show is on...

I'm pretty sure it's the old Hudson's on Woodward that was blown up to make way for Compuware. I think they destroyed it in 1998. City Club/Leidernact is about 6 blocks west of it. It's weird, for the first time in my life I see cranes and machines building shit in Detroit, not just destroying areas and leaving them an empty lot.
