AKAI 2000XL Problem getting past the memory screen

I got a friends whos 2000xl when you turn it on says detecting memory but doesn't go any further, I was wondering if any of you have had this problem or know what the problem could be?

We checked the memory which seems fine, changed the power cable, unplugged everything from it, though it still won't ever go past the memory screen..

If anyone can help, it would be mucho apprecitated!!!!

Yeah man, tried some other memory unfortuantly same problem.. Strange hey..

tried also without ram expansion? (original 2 mb)?

sorry maybe i was confusing, i mean:
take off all extra memory and leave just the original onboard memory (2mb)...
wanted to know if u tried that.
