MODULES...WHO NEEDS THEM...*LOOKS AROUND*..DO I? MPC 2000XL

SO I HAVE A MPC 2000XL AND I WAS WONDERING WAT THA BASIC FUNCTION FOR THE MODULE IS..I WAS READING ABOUT IT ON TWEAKHEADZ.COM..BUT I REALLY DIDNT UNDERSTAND..AND WITH THE MPC 2000XL AND TRITON LE DO U THINK ITS IMPORTANT TO HAVE A MODULE OR COULD THAT WAIT..?

i would wait if i was you man. you seem to just be starting. i say work with what you got and learn how to use your stuff properly. a module will give you more sounds.

Ayo fam...I was in the same perdicament (did I spell that rii?) that is untill I started looking into vst's! I don't kno if the trito le can be a midi controller but if so...get into these Vst's kid!

Your just starting, learn with what you got first, the more you learn how to use what you have NOW, the more money you can save later on by being smart about what you need and don't need (a CLASSIC newbie mistake btw), so don't fall into that trap. Use your triton le as a sound module VIA midi, you can make serious heat with what you have already.. You didn't even check out midi at tweakheadz.com did you, lol. It will explain that to you.. lol..

No,

-Soundmodule is basically a keyboard with no keys sometimes offering more sometimes offering less.
-Your triton can be used for sounds or as an controller to control sounds within your PC.
-Make sure u have an mixer for connecting your Triton's and MPC's outputs to.
-Remember to turn Local Control to OFF on your Triton.
-Remember MIDI OUT of Triton to MPC MIDI IN and MPC MIDI OUT to Triton MPC MIDI IN.
-Remeber to setup your tracks in the MPC from DRUM to MIDI and have the channels mactching.(eg. MIDI Channel 3 in Triton should be MIDI:3A in MPC.)
-Learn what you have and use all the FREE websites/tutorials/vidz to further educate yourself.

i use the e4xt as a custom sound module, and when i need to
do more with a sample what the mpc cannot. A rack like this can be loaded with the emu chips, but doesnt limit you to just using the presets, you can also create your own multilsamples, or loop waveforms for synth like operation. there getting surpirsingly cheap.



Sounds like you got you bases covered for now. Mpc and triton is a pretty good combo, and you should have a pretty wide sonic pallette to play with.

I think you have too much!

The reason i say i think you have too much is that you can make records alone just using a MPC..
I made 6 records just using a MMT 8 sequencer and a S950..

A friend made a few records using a MMT8 and a Dr. 660 drum machine by tweekin the hell out of the internal sounds and using the midi note numbers of the DR 660.. pretty impressive..

So basically less is more..

if you dont believe me, talk to any gear head that has a room full of synths..Then ask how many records they put out or how many tracks they have completed..Most of the time you will find that those with tons of gear spent more time adjusting/buying/disconnecting gear than actually writing tracks..Plus, most of them only have a basic idea on how to use most of their stuff..They never really spend time with one or two pieces of gear..

If I were you, put the triton away, grab a turntable and records (or cd player and cds) and sample away!

GAME OVER....insert another quarter!!!

Sounds like you need to get into your Triton! That machine can do everything. It's not my sort of thing, but they have extremely complex synth capability, routing possibilities, built in FX, midi sequencing and sampling. If you max it out you could record audio tracks for vocals(need lots of sampling time).
I started with a Roland Dr. 550, Then when they first came out - a Roland MC-303 hooked up to my Juno 106.
Not to be too sarcastic - but surely you can make some tunes on a Triton!
