PROTEUS 2000

what's up everybody, i was just wondering does anyone have a proteus 2000 or had a chance to play with one. I was thinking about copping one.

I use one at school... its a great piece, a ton of sounds at your fingertips... I can pound out a song in a couple minutes with it.

My advice, if you like and are going to go with the Proteus 2000 you might wanna consider getting the Proteus 2500 which is the upgrade and comes standard with an onboard sequencer.

I've had it for a little while now.. I like the hi-hats, percussion, bass, and quite a few others. All in all, it's a good box, especially since you can expand it to suite your needs. A lot of people like the mo-phatt because it has 'hip-hop' sounds.. that's cool I guess, but when I think of music, I don't like to have sounds classified for me.. it's like saying you wanna buy some hip-hop shoes..not saying that mo-phat isn't good tho, it's actually nice (you can get the expansion card for the p2000 too) but the planet/mo phatt sounds are just as overused as the korg triton. For a good variety of drums, pads, leads etc, and for the price, I would buy one.. play around with it first to make sure it fits your needs.

This is very good advice. I have had my 2000 for about three years and i luv it. I have a phatt card and the virtuoso card in it.

i have one and it's true that you have many sounds in it and it's very easy to use......but main of these sounds are just....i don't know about the english word...;just...;not enough....

The proteus 2000 is cool if you expand the soundsets with the chips that emu has. I think there's 3 extra slots for expansion. I have one with a mo phatt chip and the planet earth installed. If you don't have an mpc, I agree and to get the 2500, but if you do then the 2000 will be good.

I myself don't have the Proteus 2000 or the Proteus 2500. I do however have the Mo' Phatt w/the ZR ROM chip which is a Monster, the Planet Phatt module, and the Virtuoso module w/ the Ensoniq Project rom which is alright but not one that I would reccomend you run out and cop like the ZR ROM. Hit my site soundclick up and see how I use these modules. And for the record big zee the planet phatt and the proteus 2000 are very similar minus the keys and a couple string patches on the Proteus. Again hit up my soundclick link and you can get an ear full of all these modules.

I always thought it was quite g@y too... "hiphop sounds", wtf, only certain sounds can be used for Hiphop?? the marketing aspect of some of these comanies is ridiculous.

If you are still thinking of getting a Proteus and also have a PC check out the new EmulatorX from Emu.

its pretty corny. i sampled all the drums & rhodish sounds and was done with it, the funniest rom set in there is the overdone brotha saying things like "word" and "owww yeah."

if anyone got a mo phatt, smoke a super fat blunt and play with that rom set, youll be rolling on the ground laughing.

I had one before. I traded it in towards my Motif though.
The sound quality of the Proteus was pretty good.

I will probably be getting one again someday
unless another sound module comes out with
something else I am diggin.
