No you really can't. I have to mess with wires at the back when I want to do it and won't get a perfect loop out of it which makes it pointless. It's about efficiency cause when you are being creative you don't want to loose the flow when you have to bother with wave editing... that should be the last thing.

Regardless, all the MPC's will soon be OS based. You will plug a color lcd into the unit and it will have it's own OS. You'll be able to use a mouse. They are doing this with keyboards now. I feel they are going this way because it's more efficient.

For instance, if i'm looping a bar in Kinetic or fruity loops or whatever, I can change the bass, treble, stretch, pitch of the bass drum very very quickly via a mouse within seconds while it's looping - I don't have to navigate through menu's hitting buttons like a cell phone.

The drum machine was best at having a beeping metranome and then tapping out bars. But when you can't export the perfect loop you just made... then we're not really progressing anywhere. All we're doing is turning a drum machine into an unifficient, difficult to learn sequencer instead of working on the raw basics of what the mpc should be able to do becaues every peice of midi software lets you export the bar you just made as a wav file
...
Anyhow, the cel phone style interface will be a thing of the past next time around and maybe I'll look at an mpc then as long as it can sample my bars!.

i love reading BS like this

if you have good ears it will be perfect 8)

but yeah, if you want a drum machine just to sample home made loops then you are way out of your league.

there are probably some cheaper drum machines that do that.

do you not understand the concept of a sequencer?

why would you want the sample itself to be a perfect loop when you can just hit the pad and sequence it in?

that's kind of what the sequencer is there for...not to mention chopping, which it really seems like would be beyond you

it's funny that you complain that the mpc "cannot make a perfect loop" when it's been used for decades to make loop based hip hop

no. you can adjust the record time or manually press stop.

bullsh1t, u can turn loop of in sequence mode (top right hand corner) and it will stop at the end of the loop.

and to re answer question , yes u can sample internally to WAV on the mpc, but it puts all your sounds into a stereo mix, so u cant edit individual sounds once u have done this. so make sure its sounding tight in your mpc before doing that process and sending it into profools.

you're an idiot. the original question regarding "recording" was about resampling, NOT recording notes into a sequence. this is done from record mode and has nothing to do with loop on or off. the only bullsh!t i smell must be on your boots.

If wave editing that easy and straightforward on a bit of hardware as edit friendly as the 1k is a problem for anyone im just stunned.
The poster doesnt even know his stuff enough to know hes making a c*nt of himself.

Once again (and it hardly needs saying at this point i know) but all this software has spoilt these kids.

Does diddums need an export function to mix and match his loops? awwww........

but all this software has spoilt these kids.

i ALMOST went down this route. i hear so many people saying "man i could do the same shit so much faster on reason."

then when i hear their tunes, the drums are all SO quantised, the samplse SO poorly strung together...

not that people can't create good grooves and swing by notenudging in acid, but honestly - i had NO CONCEPT of swing befoer i got my mpc. everything was lockde into the grid.

software definitely spoiled me because it didn't force me to go over every bar of the song with a microscopic lense seeing "ok how can i make this groove more pleasing to the ear..."

mpc production is a dying breed as hip hop is turning more and more toward simplistic drums and synthlines. mpc production is for dinosaur boom bappers, white kids who missed the train, white kids who want to be different, black kids who missed the train, and white/black/etc kids who were duped into buying the most expensive box at Guitar Center

i'm proud to be a fossilized white kid who missed the train

edit - lifeless drums can blow me. seriously, what's wrong with people...as far as i'm concerned, the 808 is only good for layering/parody

yeah i have from one day and i definitly could say that this machine is amachine and not a computer sequencing... now i can understand hip hop better (i come from house)....
the resamplijng function is cool... take 1 beat or 2 without loop and when you import that in sequencing i think it's not so hard find the start and end point.....
