I will purchase your 2500 off you for $1000. I want to buy my son his own personal MPC..an MPC 2500 or a 1000. I dislike the 1000 so much, its hard to justify buying one, but the price is perfect for a 12 year old.

I recently bought an MPC 2500...about two weeks ago

its to early to say whether i'll run into any problems or not
but I've ran into the CF bug already...and that same bug where if you save in the internal memory you see characters like ###%&#^(& or whatever. But I am figuring out ways to get around them, I've already figured out how to work around that CF bug and i haven't encountered the other one because I haven't saved to the internal mem.


I can understand your situation dax..when it comes down to work and doing your job...machine **** up's are really unacceptable..its like working in a band w/ another player who keeps **** up...yeah I know about that too well. Good luck, man I hope you get that sorted out man

So what is your work around for your CF bug?

Also, what 'internal mem' do you intend to save projects to?

Dax doesn't need luck. He just needs to send his MPC and/or hard drive in for repair/replacement.

As you refer to the MPC 2500 is the only piece of equipment in our history that has EVER had any sort of problem that would cause us to lose our music in the middle of a session.....you have obviously never used an MPC with an earlier OS.

You're right, I started with an ASR 10 and then an ASR X while my partner used Pete Rock's original SP 1200 that Cl Smooth gave him, then my other friend whos a Bad Boy Hitman convinced me to get a 3000, we never had any problems with any of them when it came to producing or tracking or anything, except for the "adding an empty bar when you track it into Protools" on the 3000. Personally I guess I haven't used the older OS' on the older MPC's just the 3000 with 3.11, soon to be Rohan's 3.16. I fell in love with all the things that the 2500 does, and the main features is The Cd ROM, the internal CF, and HD that allow me to save GB's of stuff quick w/o me having to lug around a Zip Drive. But if those hardware things are the issue, then I guess I'm fine with the 3000 until I get this 2500 checked out or traded in for a new one or someting. I'm not going to sell my 2500 because I see a big future in this machine, but thanks for the offer.

THE MAKER I don't know how I missed that in the manual, but THANK YOU!! for those tips, that changed everything because my strong point is the way I chop sounds and reconfigure in ways that people can't figure out the source. When I couldn't figure it out in the 2500 I thought it was over. This definitely is NOT the 3000, but I figured in most bathrooms the toilet papers usually right next to the toilet not in a totally other room so I just went straight to looking for certain parameters in obvious windows haha. Now, if only I can get sound out of this machine again I can apply the knowledge and make some music!

UPDATE ON THE ISSUE: I saved all my drum sounds and songs onto a CF Card and reformatted the Hard Disk, then, using the CF Card only..I went to load the entire folder of beats from my CF Card Folder and only the sounds starting with A-B-C and D are there, the rest E-Z are GONE after I spent about an hour loading and transferring them all to that CF Card. Also, I hit the PLAY button to audition the sounds from the CF Card and I hear it fine, I play a CD and I hear it fine, however, when I load the song itself and hit PLAY the numbers are rolling but NO SOUND is coming out at all, then I go to programs and hit the pads and they're showing the sounds assigned to the pad but NO SOUND is coming out, only from CD, CF Card itself AND in TRIM MODE. Any ideas what THESE ISSUES can be now? Thanks again in advance.

I know this may be basic, but after a while of being fustrated and tinkering around this what i figured..peep it

I have a whole library of drums that I've created/etc from over the past seven years. the sample rates for those drums are around 345 kbps. Everytime I tried to load them up i'd get "wrong file", so I thought what the **** is going on? So after a little bit I had loaded this break up into Sonar, I cut it up because I wanted the Snare. So I load that snare up in the MP through the USB and it played! but the sample rate was about 1141 Kbps. The small observation i've noticed that if the sample rate is 1141 kbps it should play all right.


I'm sure with more experieneced users this is probably common knowledge, take in mind i've had this machine for about 2 and a half weeks now.

ps. Jahrome..I do that what I said above.and I just create a new folder each time on the CF card thats how i get around that bug

man I wish I was your kid! all my pops gave me was a busted belt drive table back in the day.

Why do you dislike the 1000 so much? why not get your son some music lessons or maybe an instrument? (if he doesn't play one or a few already)

I understand what you mean, but since I sampled it all with the mpc2500 to begin with (no software) and it samples at 44.1 snapshots per sec then shouldn't that be it? Or am I missing something? Please explain I pick up really quick.

I agree, I took piano as an 11 year old, and off and on since, and even though I didn't have equipment at first the music was internal, when I went to my friend Younglord's house to his studio, I would just turn stuff on and play out stuff and sample myself. I learned how to use the mpc3000 by myslef soon after but that was just an addition to already understanding music itself. In other words, an internal gift like that nobody can ever take away
