any ones 2500 been sent back to be repaired yet ??

mines has with a randoming q link, and im not sure the dumb **** know what they doin.
my supplier phoned alesis ( the repairers of akai ( i think ) ) and they were just going to look at my machine, 2 weeks after it being sent !!!
i hope they cant sort it and have to hook me up with a brand new machine.
i will be testing it in the shop when i eventually get the call to pick it up.
man im itching to get back into the beast, watching jackpots videos on you tubes got me itching !!!!

That doesn't sound good. But it seems like your supplier could have offered you better services.

I had been living in Japan for the past 10 years. When there was an issue I need for Akai to take a look at one of my MPCs, turn around time as a few days.

I have been living here in the US for the past year. I needed Akai to take a look at my MPC because I had an issue with my LCD going blank for a few seconds while I loaded an older OS. Turn around time was less than 1 week. They would return it with the same service you used to ship it to them..meaning, overnight ship it...the will use an overnight service once they repair it.

My 2500 is working lovely these days and I plan to spend a few hours tonight making a beat and throw it up on my boring My Space page.

Yeah i had the same prob. My machine was away for about 3- 4 months tho :-/

This was because the left out of the stereo pair was broke. Luckily one clever dick on this site told me to get a replcement from the supplier while mine was bening fixed.... which I did.

well mines been away for 3 weeks now ans im slowly starting to get pissed off !!! the rage is gradually building up inside me !!!!

depending on the part, it might be quicker/cheaper/easier for you to call vst and ask if they have X piece. order it (in my case it cost 8 dollars for a 1k part) and solder it in. soldering is very safe, and basically the process is self explanatory. i'd never really had any preexisting experience at it.

again, it depends on the piece though...

That's horrible advice IMHO. For a $600 drum machine maybe...but for a $1800 professional tool, that is the last thing I would suggest, especially since it should still be under warranty

jahrome, what you know about the inside of your mpc wouldn't fill a thimble.

if this thing is still inside the warranty, then feel free to spend a couple weeks waiting for someone to do the exact same thing that you could safely do yourself in half an hour.

1000/2500 are built the same internally. you know this. they're built with computer parts. you know this as well.

it's time you start thinking of your "professional tool" like a professional.

I will not debate what I do/donot know about the inside of an MPC with you. But you still gave horrible advice. You have no idea of what is going on inside of Del's MPC or his experience with repairing electronics.

If you knew anything about the 2500, you would know that every MPC 2500 on the planet should be still under warranty The electronics in my MPC are not the same as what's in any of my computers. Why you even mention that is silly. I doubt I will ever need your help/advice for such matters...especially given your great advice in this thread. And I thought you were too busy moderating the JJ OS/Bug Forum

I have to support jahrome in that...I would never solder around in a machine that is still under warranty. If you **** up, then that's it....and you can let VST repair it for half the amount a new one would cost. Service technicians have learned what they are doing for years, and if they **** up, you get a new box.

For a 15 year old MPC60, yes - for a brand new 2000$ machine, no way.

but sometimes you got to bite the bullet and be a man - deal with hot metal

I'd recommend sending it to VST for a warranty repair as well. Forget about sending it to Nukai. You don't want to deal with Rob Ray! Trust me on that!

As for machines that are past the warranty... yeah it's easy to fix most things on your own.

The last person I would take advice from regarding an MPC 2500 is from a 1000 user.

There is no IF. MPC 2500s have not been around for a year yet. Its under warranty. Robert Ray is exactly who I sent my MPC to and received it back within 3 days

With all the expert advice being given out, do you even know where Del lives? Think about that before you give lame advice.

Its easy to fix most things on an MPC? Like what? Fixing things ourselves is the last thing we have to worry about on the MPC 2500. Why? Because it isn't as cheap as a 1000..and for the last time, its under warranty.

get over yourself
