chopping question

How do you guys chop your samples up? do you sample the part you need then zone them into pieces? or do you chop using an audio editor on your pC? Im looking for a more efficient way of chopping.

the pc option is way easier, but not every1 likes or has a computer. You can do it all in the mpc its just not as quick, to load or select portions of audio that you want to chop. But if u keep it all in the mpc its already in RAM and you wont need to transfer the files from the pc then load them up, with sometimes can be a few minutes to wait.

I like chopping in the mpc I do it different ways....

#1 Just sample a bunch of small parts off the record...

#2 Sample one long sample make a bunch of copies and trim each one...

#3 Use the zoning feature....

I dont use the computer....

Once u get used to chopping on the mpc its u can do it VERY fast...

For me, Recycle is still the king of chops cause that's all it does.
The best thing about Recycle is that you after you've done your chops you can export them as an akai akp file from Recycle and import them into the MPC Editor to load directly on your MPC.

You also get a Midi file to play your chops back in the right order. Which is handy when you have about 64 chops to deal with.
