What's wrong with my 3000 jumper settings?

2wice sent me a disk drive for the 3000 that should work...the way he had originally sent me the drive was recognized but when formatting the disks, it took forever and the MPC ended up saying that the data on the disks was bad...this was for several different kinds of HD disks and DD disks as well...

so when I found out it could be the jumper settings, I switched them up as per a diagram 2wice also sent me..now the same thing happened to the new drive as my old drive and the MPC says there is no disk in the drive even when there is...

HELP! I need a new car haha, I've gotta sell this thing

I recognise the jumper settings from that picture.

That is how the jumpers on my MPC3000LE are set.

Maybe the FLOPPY CONTROLLER chip on the main board is acting up.

Or the FLOPPY CONTROLLER cable is damaged.

Now come to think of it I see where the problem might be.

FD-235-HF 8500 made in JAPAN, probably the one that was in your MPC3000LE when you first obtained it.

FD-245-HF A529 made in THAILAND, probably the replacment drive.

I'll check a few more things later today with jumpers and get back to the list.

I seem to remember pulling a TEAC FD-245-HF 3300 from a MPC 3000 a while back.

Later MPC3000/MPC3000LE machines are most likely to contain the last of a certain ( now discontinued ) TEAC floppy drive.

In particular, the FD-235-HF AXXX.

The XXX denotes the chassis and colour code types.

"A" series FD235-HF drives are jumper set the same.

My MPC3000LE is factory fitted with an FD235-HF A000 drive and jumpered as per the picture posted by DETA!L above. ( This picture was supplied by me to member 2WICE who in turn sent same to member DETA!L in an effort to try configuring said drive to work ).

Member PEEZIE sent me some time back a FD235-HF A529 which when jumpered as per the above picture works fine in my MPC3000LE and a friend's MPC3000 ( which is where it has been ever since )

A point to note with the FD235-HF AXXX series drives is that they have a force format over ride setting for 720K emulation that is not jumper settable.

Note that if an FD235-HF AXXX drive is to be used with MPC3000/MPC3000LE machines then this 720K emulation solder bridge shoule be open/de-soldered/removed.
