why no AkSys on the 25k?

i don't understand why they left off this very useful feature when they built this machine. it makes organisation such a breeze to look at your folder structures on a pc and change accordingly. it's a great tool for keeping your h/d tidy and i'm a tidiness freak! oh, and drag & drop.

i don't have a 25k (no flames please) so i wondered if anyone sees the need for aksys. when i had an s6000 i thought it was indispensible. now i have a 1k (no flames please, jj os imitates your 25k ) and may trade up but lack of aksys is a little annoying. and np, it's not the be all and end all, but i'm just curious about this omittance.

any idea why they dropped it as the 4k has it and that is an older product?

and is it possible to implement it in future updates or is there a reason why it couldn't?

yeah this is something akai needs to implement. It seems every other new product on the market has a computer editing counter part. I would love to see a editing program for my 2500. the usb is useful but not really the same.

Like the 4k it would need a USB host port and it dotn have one!

does it really add cost to the end product to implement this into the hardware when at the design stage?

it would really benefit those moving from pc to mpc (like myself). ok, i used to use the s1000 screen a long time ago but i've been spoilt by pc editing for too many years now.

i want to free myself from pc sequencing but still have the ability to organise the nightmare of the h/d (my sample naming skills are terrible) and edit, drag&drop, etc.

why do you think they have omitted it indefinately then (as it's not possible to implement at a later stage due to said hardware restrictions)?

I don't think you need a host port for editing. You do need one to attach a storage device, but not for simply accessing the MPC.

And you can keep your HD tiny already by mounting it on your PC...

If you have a hd in your 1000/2500 can't you reach it from a pc through the usb? Is it only for the cardreader? If so how do you backup your harddrive in your mpc?
I only use cf cards for my 1000 so i have no clue.

You can mount either one on your PC, just not at the same time.

USB 1.1 - 12Mb/s that's megabits not bytes. (8bits in a byte.)

USB 2.0 - 480Mb/s that's megabits again, not bytes.

Without the host port, it can't be accessed by aka.sys. There is no way this will work on the 2500 without the host port.
