im sampling some jazz stuff and in the background are some very soft drums that i want to get rid of. i know they cant be rid of completely but is there anyway to make them a little less obvious?

use your filter...it helps drown out HIs

go into the progam function select the pad the sample is on and then go in to the "params" button and work the filter

When I sample I turn the bass down low and treble up on my mixer. It can help some times if you are playing a beat over the sample to let the kiks shine. Works sometimes, other times it sounds like ish

yeah..i would mess with the equalizer on the mixer you are using with your turntable before messing with the filters

or one thing you could do is lay harder drums over the soft ones, so they are drowned out...feel me?

Something you can try is to change the sample from stereo to mono.
You'll find with most jazz records the bass for instance will be on the left side and the piano on the right and so on. It's a good technique also for creating basslines from one sample.

Sometimes when you sample in mono the drums will be on the right or left and the rest will be on the opposite side, check both so you can see what's where when you sample, I always do that before I sample. Also you can lay harder drums over the ones that already exist, if you copy the exact same drum pattern as the record already has, or a very similar one, you can't even hear it or even tell, look at that mobb deep record with the scarface sample, I think it's called IT'S MINE... that scarface loop has the disco drums in it it's real hard to get those out so they built the drum pattern around it and it sounds dope.

mpc2kxl aint that good for this. but i can sell u a asr10 that is extremely good for things like this.
