SCSI Zip Drive - Error FF48 - MPC-60 II ver. 3.10

Anybody know what the deal is with that error? I've got a MARION SCSI card installed inside the MPC but for some odd reason can't get the software to read my ZIP Disk drive. Do I have to purchase an external SCSI hard drive?

I think you need to format it first, it won't recognize it until you format it.

Not the floppy, but the SCSI, I think it is the 4th and last option on the Disk>format menu.

Thats exactly what came to my mind when I read this... Format the zip. I cant be sure its been a while since I needed to format one. I mostly use floppies. Still using the same 1 zip disk 100 MB vs 1.5 MB sample memory.....um yeah.... lets just say I got a few more songs to do on it before I fill it up....lol.

Yeah, I'm on Partition I of A-T (5mb each) Still working on H, but put some factory kits on I.

Other thn that, make sure it is terminated with the switch on the back, maybe try different SCSI ID numbers if the above fails.

Thanks guys. I realized I hadn't formatted the disk prior to installing the new OS. I also failed to realize that I had 2.14 chips installed on my board. I guess it was MARION SCSI rom?

I lucked out. Purchased my MPC-60 II for 550.00 and it came with an ANVIL CASE and is in fantastic condition.

Is there a place that might be able to sell me a new face (it's scratched) and maybe some buttons (stop, record, play) as mine are all faded.

I also need a new backlight. How difficult is it to install one yourself? Do i need the soldering gun as required in the S-950's installation?

This is one that I cant help you with.... My backlight is alive and kicking thankfully. Maybe someone else can help. You may also wanna try the Yahoo group on this one.

It isn't that hard,

You need a solfering Iron, a Gun will be too hot but if you are careful you can do it.

Go to Backlights.co.uk and look at their step by step, then order the Backlight from

midi-rakete.de and tell wolfgang I sent you.

I've used both, and the co.uk backlights were poorly sealed ad a bit too big.

I recommend the white backlight from midi-rakete. It is still blue, but a bit lighter, and brighter.

I have pics of the difference up on the MPC60 yahoo group in the files section I think.

BTW Forat sells the buttons im told. Maybe you can check with them about the other parts as well.

What size dimensions do i tell them for replacing a backlight on an MPC-60 II? If you don't mind me asking. Also. Do I just e-mail them and inquire? How do I make a purchase?

Midi-rakete knows, just let him know that it's an MPC 60 II.

The white backlight thing may not apply to the mark II since the backlights are different.
