Is there a firmware update to the "ROM" OS? I noticed in the manual that the effects board and SMPTE option are not recognized by OS v1.0, is that referring to the disk OS or the ROM os?
The ROM OS on a 2000 CLASSIC ( NON XL ) is the boot loader ROM.
The ROM OS contains minimal system startup and hardware initialisation routines. Also contains some of the low level routines that are called on by the ... DISK OS.
The DISK OS on a 2000 CLASSIC ( NON XL ) is the actual software that is running.
For simple terms from a PC comparison stand point.
The ROM OS is the system BIOS and the DISK OS is the operating system.
Cant remember if the ROM OS ( BIOS ) was ever updated past version 1.0 on an MPC2000 CLASSIC ( NON XL ) model.
A friend runs one of these boxes with version 1.0 in ROM and version 1.72 on disk... Their FX and SMPTE options all appear to work fine.
