converting stereo to mono?

where is this function on the enw machine,can't find it dammit. help me out please.

There is no such function.

what the hell? i was looking for this function as well. i guess with so much memory and 8 outs as standard they figured mono was dead.

Right now u need to resample the sample internally but sample in Mono.

Hopefully the next O.S might have this feature

That doesn't exactly convert your sample either. It just allows you to take only the left or right channel of the stereo version.

Hence the word mono. Not the exact function but a definate work around...

Well there are two ways to make a stereo sample mono: Take out one of the two channels, or mix both down to one. The fact that Chop Shop only takes the left channel when converting a chopped sample is in my opinion the reason why all people complain their samples sound thin or low after chopping. Because most recordings are not just dual mono. The same would happen if you resample it like it was supposed, some samples will sound different from before.

just noticed this too with the 2500.

i remember the 2000XL had the convert stereo sample to mono option, which was nice.

with the 2500 you have to hit Mode then Record. switch the input to Main Out (so your sampling your main outs of the machine), then in Mode you can pick Stereo, Mono L or Mono R. hit the pad you want to resample and switch between stereo, mono L or mono R and listen to what it is you want out of the sample, then hit record.

it's a bit of a pain to do it this way, it was easier on the 2000XL, but you can get it done on the 2500. you can sample everything in stereo, just to have it, then go back and resample the L and R monos of the sample. that way you have all 3 and pick and choose between them.

the Resample the Main Outs of the 2500 feature is def nice. works good if you process, layer, puts effects, etc... on your sound, then can resample them and free up your effects, processing power, etc...

was working with a sample in the Trim Screen setting up a loop. did it, but wasn't hearing it how i set it up when i assigned it to a pad. found out you have to have the pad set to Note On not One Shot to hear the loop you made.

hope that helps someone who might have cam across the same problem.

back to bangn on the 2500...
