Akai are a bunch of fgts im sure they'll leave out some crucial piece to the puzzle with the MPC500... such as a card reader.

looks more like a psp than a "music production centre".

I still dig the look. It looks less plastic than the 1k..

man the sp 404 is only 400. now if this were going to be roland/boss' rival which the 303 and 404 has been killin it in portability and price....the tag of 799 gots to be the msrp. plus....just cause nova got it on pre order...i dont think theres no way they can do this without that list price suggestion next to it.....cmon i sware if that shit costs more than the 606..you guys are paying for the name now....cause the pads are different..and im sure the sequencer will be too somehow. but honestly i am now debating over this and the mpd 24 to go with my laptop

Ok MPC heads i don't get it? Yall are cool with them just coming out with new stuff instead of fixing the problems in the older machines? What are yall gonna do when and if they decide to move on to something else without fixing the problems of this one? What continue to buy the next one? I don't get it so fill me in please.

It will most likely provide alot of things the sp-404/303 cant provide, as with most mpc's.

just depends if you wanna pay double the price for those extra features...

although. I reckon it would be smarter to get an sp606 instead. Its cheaper, and its almost safe to assume that its a better machine. It just isnt AS portable and isnt branded an "mpc"

oh yeah, i remember 3500 rumours!

Although that most likely will be one of the upscaled models that are way out of my price bracket...

the 3500 would be a slimmed down 4000 ?! like a 2500 with z4 engine(which they should've done right away ) and none of the "studio" options but more like a proper mpc.

i would guess that the worst is yet to come. Specs will be very dissapointing i guess. And the price is pure stupidity. I have an 1000 and a 404 and no way im buying this thing for that price tag, unless of course it has a built in 250 gb hd, z4, and has at this moment a jj os in the works. but wakai at the wheel these things are not likely.

So far so good. Runs on batteries, which is super cool...you can turn off the backlit screen to save battery life. 1 set of midi ins/outs. Left/Right Stereo outs. Same familiar akai layout.
Pretty cool!

COOL! YOU GET A WHITE MAN WITH 500!!!!!!!!!!

I'm Not Suprised........................................

The SP-404 has a one track sequencer. The SP-606 has a 4 track sequencer. I doubt Akai dumbed down this machine that much. Also, even the 1000 pads are better than rolands pads. Also, if Akai still allows you to stack 4 samples on each pad and also allow you spread your samples chromatically amongst the 12 pads...that is worth the extra cash over the SP-404. If this machine isn't dumbed down too much... a fair price would have been $500-600.
