Yo-

I'm considering upgrading from my MPC 1K to either the MPC 2K or MPC 2500, but want to know if there are any major differences between the models.

I feel pretty comfortable on the 1K, I just don't want to upgrade to a machine I'm uncomfortable working with. Also, I wanted to see what those people who purchased their MPCs from e-Bay would say to someone in my position.

Any and all insight is kindly appreciated.

1k and 2.5k are much more similar than 1k and 2kxl.

Therefore I'd recommend the 2.5k to you. It'll feel like a natural step up.

2500, esp given the future software updates for it. however, as updates go, the only thing you'd be updating is size, midi outs, cd rom, and assng. outs. functionally they're identical, or will be in a couple days. if the above is worth the money, do it.

however, if you wanted to get a 2000, you could do so very cheap on ebay and use the rest of the money to pick up a module or something else nice. however, you're taking several huge steps backwards in terms of os software, speed and functionality.

would you trade your 1k for a 2k studio edition?
