Akai MPC-500

Yeah..if mpc3500 isn't a hoax..must be really good..I'm not that inmpressive of the 500, i was expectin' sth. different, fresher.I think that its specs are ok with its size,but Akai just doesn't "surprise" me anymore with its design..Past MPC models like 60/3000/2000xl/4000 have something new when they came out and made you (and me) say "WOOOW!"

No matter how much the "dumbified" this unit is, im sure the sample editing capibilities are a million times easier than the caveman method provided by the 404!

Im really interested to see how the software compares to the 1k. Now that will change how i will consider my next mpc purchase..

What happened to CPU? Were we duped?

last week it was my girlfriend, this week its CPU..

missing the F1-6 buttions kinds sucks. those are mighty important for editing.

I know, but thats like taking the shoulder buttons off a ps2 controller, theres other ways, but not as efficient.

And also, wasnt the 1000 made to be portable? the battery thing is ok only if it were rechargable. where are you going to go that doesnt have a power outlet, the movies. it seems ok in the mpc line if its $500 and no more cause then they would go on ebay for $300. but saying its cool cause you can take it anywhere is stupid cause I take my 1000 on the train, and now with coffee shops and other places supporting laptops theres always an outlet. I guess if you were haing a picnic or were at the beach the batteries would come in handy, but what would you be doing with a 500 in that situation? I could be wrong but uning common sence tells me otherwise.

the 3500 sounds interesting and if jj worked on that it could be impressive.

I don`t know I will wait till you suckers buy it and get it off ya used 3 to 6 months later at a cheaper price. ha, ha, ha,

MPC 3500 huh I wonder what Akai America got cuz Akai Japan no longer exists and doesn`t know anything.

My point is that we nothing about the specs or the OS...so why not wait before saying it sucks? I don't know where you live or what you do for a living... but some people travel and commute long distances... this could be cool for them. Also, to me...there is nothing like just grabbing something and laying on the couch with some headphones...and no other wires. I do it with my MicroKorg all the time. Think of all the places people play portable video games. Well, now beatmakers can make beats in all those same places. The thing with the MPC1000 is it is heavy... so you will most likely leave it home. This thing is probably 1/3 of the weight of the 1000. Probably close to the SP-404 in weight.

nah yo the mpc 1000 is extremely portable..and IMO is rather light compared to the weight and bulk of the other mpcs. $799 is waaay to much for that shht. good os or not..

Well, yeah...I guess the MPC1000 is portable just like an Apple iMac is portable. I will agree on the price though.

I might get one when the price goes down, or off Ebay or something.
It'll be great for Road trips, so I don't have to bring the 2kxl.
It looks like a good little note pad for ideas.

im just saying if you have a 1000 this is overkill, if you have a 4000 and dont want to spend 600 and find one of these on ebay for 300 then thats not bad. you can sit on the couch with a 1000 and saying it not having a powercord is worth 700 than thats you. theres still a cord on your headphones so I dont know what the big deal is. buying batteries so you dont need to use the power cord in your living room is a good reason to buy it, especially so you dont have to use the HEAVY 1000.

yosh is just a gadget head... nothing wrong with that.. but that price is straight ridic.. especially if you already have a 1k..

everytime you see dude's lab in the cribs thread, he has a new gadget..lol
