YES! I totally agree. Making a beat, and making a Hit Song are two completely different accomplishments. A Hit Song is something far more difficult to make than simply a beat. Does anyone agree that the terms "Beatmaker" and "Producer" are used incorrectly in todays music scene?

im not sure if i can totally agree with what is being said in here. i personally dont think u need soo much stuff to make a beat. i mean i was watching black milk on youtube banging out a track on the mpc. it was hot and hes like "this is nothing, i mean as u can see there isnt much in here, only my mpc turntable. I will take it to the bigger studio later and mess with some more keyboards and sh!t" he had like alooottttt of equipment there in his little basement. i mean he can do everything in there, make the beat, edit it, do whatever to it, and finally have a master copy.

maybe its only me but it seems like some people do too much to the music with all this editing and stuff. many of these beats that have gone thru a fully loaded studio sound just the same as mine do lol. like seriously. ok sometimes not, but most of the time those same beats sound pretty much the same as all the other beats i hear. no REAL significant difference. i dont know if its only me? obviously some ppl do a terrible job with their beats and could need mastering but the ppl that know what they are doing for the most part can make their beats sound balanced.

which is the same point i tried to convey here:

"Balanced" and "Mixed" are two different things. Sure, the average person can balance their stuff, but the average person CAN'T mix their stuff. They just don't have the experience/ears/equipment/monitoring setup/etc.

fair enough. when i said balanced/mixed i meant the end result sounding good. and i understand that the average person isnt skilled. but those ppl that are accustomed to the equipment/software that they use, 50% atleast are able to produce good sounding stuff.

thats how i feel.
