The 4000's platform with 32/192K, 16 Audio Tracks, MY version of chopshop, extended sample editing/aksys, VST support, GREAT FX, extended note repeat functions, firewire/ethernet, 2GB RAM, up to 500 GB HD....

...that would make sense.

The 3500 needs at least these features + everything the 4000 has:

1. An updated chop shop, in which the user can utilize the grab function up to 16 times, in one pass. As the user taps succesive pads in an empty bank, each new tapped start point would then auto-assign to the tapped pad.

2. Chord Memory.

3. Real time timestretch.

4. Audio Burning.

5. Independent Track Lengths

6. More Sample compatability ( Ensoniq, pretty please...just for me )

One thing, If Akai is actually working on a final O.S. for the 4000, they should prep that to package with a final, special edition release of the 4000 (4000SE)

Then they should be very patient with the release of the 5000...

If Akai just felt pressured to release the 5000, prior to perfecting it, they forever lose the opportunity to establish it’s reputation as an instant classic.

Establishing a companies’ flagship, as a classic, does great things for sales across the whole range, even if the entry level products are far from classic.

On the other hand, if Akai is absolutely not releasing a final O.S. for the MPC4000, then dropping the 5000 too early, might actually be a good move.

Firewire that is able to stream all your samples into the DAW of your choice.

16 or so virtual channels through firewire would be the way to go.

ADAT would mean another device.

That would be so sick if you could track straight from the MP into the computer via firewire AHH!

not related to the topic but you can do that with motif es and mlan expansion, allows to sample directly from the daw, gives 16 mono or 8 stereo outputs, 8 inputs, 4 midi channels all in single firewire cable.

i may be alone on this one but i just dont believe it. i gotta see some pics bro. first the 500 now the 3500?? although i tried typing in random numbers after mpc and nothing is coming up. but these specific models are.....hmm....i dont know. i really wanna see though!!

it would make sense to use the 3500 name considering the 3000 is easily the most respected and haloed mpc, so a flagship 3500 eh why not.
all i really want is at least 8 audio tracks, full featured sampler AND mpc style sampler functions (so you don't have to get all technical on everything you sample and assign)
maybe some built in synth components like a bass and maybe a lead. (i know not somthen you would expect but why not?)
firewire support for audio and midi
vga output (hell the 3000 had monitor support)
huge memory in ram of about eh say 10 gigs (shit ram is cheap as hell now or even flash mem)
16 outputs
at least 4knobs and 4 sliders
all the lil sequencer tricks we all want. ( i don;t even have to list em really)
i'd gladely pay about $3299-$3599 for it (oh and it bettter still be easy to use) and yes i will take the beating from my wife for it.

...but if they drop a larger unit with same outputs and guts as the 1k & 2500, with Z4 sampler functions, and nothing the 4k & 2500 don't have, it's a failure IMHO.

The next MPC flagship better be able to mush DAW software, the 4000, and the MV-8000, for real heads to respect it.

If all Akai wants is more paper quickly, they should house Alesis midi keyboard guts in a black case, with silver & red Akai Pro lettering...

vst support ...i dont think so lol thats really wishfull thinking. I dont think their stepping their game up but come up with a stripped down 4k without the studio utilities, like a 2500 with a z8 engine. Perhaps some audiotracks but I'd rather see a nice 4k display implemented instead, vga/mouse/keyboard port. AES I/O and 8xI/O analog, s/pdif and followed by a catalog of expansions...

It would probably look like 4k(unfortunately, design alike 3k would be much nices) but smaller in size.
