Yeah! I think I'm going for the 4K, but by the time I'm probably going to be ready to purchase it I bet their going to announce an MPC 8000 or something. So MPC 8000 it is!

Lou-One check out American Musical! They have a payment plan wit no interest they just take out one payment and then they will ship the 4k to ya! If u want the MPC 4000 Plus like me it is 5 ez payments of 559.99! They will take the first $559.99 out of your account and then ship the 4k to ya ASAP! Then for the next 4 months once a month they will take $559.99 out and before u kno it bam u will have a MPC 4000! So if u have the paper now and get it today from American Musical then u will be done payin off the 4k on June 21, 2004! Let me kno what u think

I'm going with the 4k! I'm going to keep my 1000 though I like how compact it is.

I got a bit of debt to take care of before I take the plunge. I estimate I'll be able to get it later this year or next year. I'm sure It'll still be the one to get for sure. Probably more so because of future OS updates

making music with just a 1000 is a joke.

who said anything about not being able to make music?

read,
learn,
and keep the whole shut.
if you can't, say something useful.

I'll second that Roop!

No one said they can't make music on it. What we are discussing is the fact that the 4000 has a shit load more features than the 1000, and it keeps us away from the PC.

This wasn't a thread concerning "OH can I make fat beats with a 1000 or is it a just a toy cause it's so iddy biddy" thread.

People like myself don't like having to import samples to the PC when I need to mangle my samples and then export them back to the 1000 everytime a make a change like that. SOmetimes I end up spending more time doing that shit than making beats it's frusting when you want to be able to do something with a sample and you have to waste all that time. And not only that it makes the portability of it useless, because I have to have a PC nearby, so why not enttertain the thought of getting the 4000. It seems like the best of both worlds in my opinion.

Also, If your just looking for something to shit on, go find a rant board, or go visit The John!

And go work on your comprehension too! Get hooked off of phono, and get hooked on phonics for a minute. Do that and you'll be aiight!

Lou-One wrote:I'm just wanting to know what you think and/or feel about making that switch. Are you missing those extra feat. now? Do you regret it? Is it the best decision you've made?

I'm asking because I'm thinking of upgrading to either a 4000 or a Roland MV-8000. I really don't like importing and exporting stuff with my PC. I'm finding I do use a lot of effects, and stuff like timestretch and pitching things up and down with out changing tempo, but I am hating being dependent on my computer. I'd just like to sample my **** and start working and not have to import files back and forth from my PC everytime I want to change the sample. It gets tiresome.

Any thoughts! Some good real talk will be much appreciated.
why not just get a sampler that does those things for you?

some people do have other responsibilities other than playing with our toys, such as jobs, families, business. Not everyone on this forum is 15 years old living at moms house, not to say you are , but you get the idea.

Yo velour, Time and Timing is everything. You need to listen when grown folks are talking. You might learn something. Save your smart ass remarks for the playground youngin'.

That's definitely not the right way to start off in these forums, son!

Smarten up!

Boogie, you mean getting a sampler and hooking it up with the MPC with Midi, and triggering the samples with the 1000? HMMM That's actually worth looking into. Like a rack mount sampler, right?

That might might work well. Like the MPC 60/3000 and s950 combo. That might save me some ducatz, and get me away from the PC.

However having the all inclusive unit like the 4000 would be ill.

Does anyone know how extensive the sampling and effect capabilities are on the 4000? It's being billed as a full fledged sampler. I haven't heard much more besides it having more filters. Does the 4000 have the same capabilities as a dedicated sampler?

Here's what I would do:

Keep the MPC1000 for sequencing and add a high-end rack sampler to your kit.

You can always use the MPC1000 to sequence the additional sampler, but you can use the advanced features of the sampler for processing audio.

I think MPC is great for sequencing. That's what the series is designed to do: (Midi Production Center).

When it comes to sampling though, you want something that goes up and down in Sampling Rate, time stretch - yes, and all that other crazy stuff that comes with a decent sampler. Maybe the new Roland sampler? (can't remember what it's called) or even the Akai Z-series.

that's what i'd do if I had the bread to upgrade.

Anyway, i'm married to my MPC because i'm a compulsive Squarepusher. I tried to use Computer based DAWS and i just fall asleep at the wheel....

I went down from an MPC2000 to an MPC1000 (though i haven't actually ditched the 2000 yet)

I think I might keep my 1k and go the z8 sampler route instead of payin almost 3 G's for the 4k! Or maybe my lil duo is better then I think my Motif ES 6 and the 1k? I need the people's vote :!: Everybody that peeps this thread could u please leave some info on if I should cop the 4k or the mv8k to go along wit my Motif ES 6 and ditch the 1k, keep the 1k & the Motif ES 6 and cop the z8 sampler or dont add anythin and just max out the memory ram in my Motif ES 6 and the 1k! :?
