Anybody Going To Get The MPC 500

yeah, they will probably be down to that price next year anyway. Does anyone remember the store price of the 1k when it first came out?

Yeah it was $799 for the first few months. Then when 1.7 released they raised it to $999. ir emeber that and being like wtf... they went from $799 to $999... that aint right. I DOUBT that'll happen with the MPC500

MSRP on the 1000 has always been $1499.99
MSRP on the 500 is $1099.99

Current offical retail on the 1000 is $999.99
No one pays that.

I think official retail on the 500 will be $599.95 quick.
Bet cash in hand gets it for less.

I was able to find one for $675.

for that price wouldn't it make more sense to get a laptop and a MPD24?
i understand that akai is going for mobility but that thing shouldn't cost more than 400.

So, lets see here... You buy Ableton live, $400... you buy a laptop...$500 minimum...$700-1000 a more realistic minimum... and a pad controller...$200...and you still don't get the same work flow as an MPC. The MPC-500 is $799...or cheaper. I got one for $675. A laptop and controller is not a true portable solution...though i use one of those as well. Try using a pad controller leashed to a laptop on a train or plane...it is not a true solution.

I'd get one for 600, it's the portability that I really Like.
And in a couple of years when you can pick one up for a couple Hundred, You can Circuit Bend that $h!t and Funk up the Samples.

I could be wrong...but I don't think they are easy to circuit bend.

I know but somebody will try it, there doesn't look like there is alot of room to put swiches either (Maybe on the side of the case).
It would be cool to have Modded or Bent, if someone figures it out.

Swearing is great. But I think everyone is finally happy with their mpc, whatever it is. All we have been akai's OS slaves since mpc4k, but at the end of the deal, we seem to be more or less happy with the machines. Then, we just must learn to wait that others buy, swear and talk about it and it's bugs. Akai will take notes, and finally, on 2008 it will be a great machine as the others.
